I had ahi poke and a side of vegetables, which seems like a rare commodity during most vacations 😪.
And now, an aside from all the festivities. Some of you know of my deep relationship with my Maui Jim sunglasses. It started about 15 years ago with my first pair...which were PERFECT. The fit was epic. The accuracy of color, the sturdiness, the lifetime warranty (which I cashed in on), the...well, they were perfect. I had them for over 10 years, and finally figured they were done. So, I bought another pair a couple of years ago, expecting another 10 years.
Sadly, I lost them on day 1 of this trip! They either fell out of my bag as I retrieved it from under the seat in front of me...or someone stole them from my pack side pouch... which the gal at Sunglass Hut says happens frequently. So...$200 (yeah, I know) later, here’s the relacement pair!
Ok, back to the festivities. On to the awards ceremony for the Law School, of which there are 231 graduates.
Jess was slated for an award, so we went to cheer for her. It was a much smaller event and thankfully, since it has started to epically rain, the event was held inside. Actually, the rest of the weekend’s festivities have been moved inside and floodwatches have been issued.
So...Jess ended up with 3 awards! First,
She represented the Law School as a ‘senator’ to the general school of William and Mary in weekly meetings. It was a big time commitment, particularly during her first year.
Next,
This was a huge award, and actually comes with an undisclosed, even to Jess, monetary award. It’s an award for community involvement in law. So....not only is W&M making attorneys, they’re encoraging
‘Citizen Lawyers’. Jess’s involvement in programs like CASA got her this prestigious award. Very Proud Parents.
Finally, she was among a group of graduates that received a W&M Public Service Award.
So, besides graduating from a really great Law School, she excelled in service and, as always, got involved in everything she possibly could! Very Proud Parents!
So, tomorrow morning (all too early) is the Law School diploma ceremony and yet another reception, then we’re going to another party that Jess and 3 of her friends are throwing for families and friends. We’ve been eating nonstop between ceremonies!
