Stockholm archipelago

What better first day than to get out of town! First, though, COFFEE!

It’s an early (for us jetlag impaired) 9:00am, but already warm (ish), since the sun comes up so early. Tomte notices that everyone is slim and fit-looking, and there’s more people riding bikes and walking than there are driving. Nice. Strangely, the first sip of my coffee gives me a visceral flashback to the coffee my mom makes for my dad every morning. No idea why, that’s the first time coffee has evoked that memory. Made me enjoy it even more, though!
The 2 1/2 ride out on the fast boat to the outermost island of the archipelago, is charming.

Here’s close in Stockholm, which itself is 14 islands connected by 54 bridges.

This, however, is where we will retire. Think we can get our 27 foot boat here?😳 Sorry for the picture quality, we wisely sat inside of the upper deck of our ferry, while those early boarders that thought outside would be more scenic are now freezing in the breeze. I’m sitting on the sunny side in short sleeves soaking in the sun and views...but it makes pictures a bit more awkward. There are 1000s of islands out here, and some just a bit larger than this one

will have a single home!
Vaxholm is our first stop. This island is the gateway ro the archipelago, and served as the major defensive position guarding the most convenient (and narrow) passage between Stockholm and the outer archipelago (and the the Baltic, Finland, and Russia).

I’m on the ship wifi, so will post in segments. Next up...from Grinda to Sandhhamm
