So, for the only time on this trip, we backtrack our route. The overnight ferry leaves from Copenhagen, so we take the ferry back to the island it’s on and drive 2 1/2 hours. It’s raining...😝
As has been our luck so far, the rain stops when we arrive at rhe Rosenborg Palace for a tour by a Tom Hekker senior clone...both in looks and sense of humor! Every sentance had us in stiches!
When we got off the bus, he met us with a “to pee or not to pee, that is the question...follow me!”
Ulf found his spot!
This guard is about 7 feet tall...a viking descendant for sure!
Here’s a royal wine decanter
And Tammy, these are for you...the most intricate saddles ever! Zoom in!
The stirrups are solid gold.
These crwons are actually worn by the Danish royals at state events. So, sometimes they’re not here. When they are, the glass case they’re in are so sensitively alarmed that if you even move air close to them an alarm goes off, the palace is locked down for 1/2 hour while a security sweep is done. I for one don’t want that Viking checking me out!

The diamond in the bottom teardrop is 16 carats! I can’t imagine the market value of this necklace. Or indeed...this entire room! I’ll forever have a different concept of ‘the crown jewels’ after seeing an entire room of diamonds, emeralds, gold, amethysts...the jewelry box of a king and queen!
